Loftus Hall Ghost Story
Loftus Hall Ghost Story
Even before the sun has set on Hook Head, an eerie darkness settles on the peninsula in Ireland’s southeast. Here stands the most haunted place in Ireland, a bleak and exposed mark on the headland. Check out the now abandoned 14th century mansion of Loftus Hall.
Since its construction during the time of the plague, Loftus Hall has had a dark history. To get to the bottom of it, Caty and Trev team up with Irish ghost hunters.
There are many stories related to the rooms of Loftus hall, some involving deaths and disappearances. One story was many years ago during a big storm in the peninsula. A stranger got shipwrecked and knocked on the door of Loftus hall and the daughter of Loftus Hall soon fell for him. While they were playing a card game, a card fell on the floor and as the daughter bent down to pick it up she noticed the stranger had hoofed feet. In temper, he burst into flames and went through the roof! The story goes that the roof has been fixed many times but the hole continues to come through. Loftus Hall has had several reincarnations since then, has been turned into a convent and even a school for girls.
As Caty and Trevor they make their way to the top level of the hall, the temperature drops and a growing sense of eeriness sets in and it’s hard to resist the urge to get up and leave.
